This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the Emergency Classroom Sub role. Adults who checked Emergency Classroom Sub as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. Emergency Classroom Subs assist the lead teacher in a classroom on a Sunday during an RE lesson. No preparation or training is required. However, Emergency Classroom Subs either need to have students registered in the RE program or have been involved in the church for at least six months.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the RE Greeter role. Adults who checked RE Greeter as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. One RE Greeter is needed each Sunday RE is in session to staff the RE sign in & welcome table in the art gallery from 10:40am – 11:15/learners and leaders head to class. It is best if volunteers in this role have participated in the RE program for at least six months, are familiar with general program workings and teachers, and are able to answer visitors questions. However, there are always other knowledgeable adults around during check in including the RE Program Assistant who can assist. Generally a small team is created in the fall after RE Registration and a rotating calendar is set up for the remainder of the year with individuals volunteering approximately once every 4 – 6 weeks.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the Hallway Helper role. Adults who checked Hallway Helper as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. One Hallway Helper is needed each Sunday RE is in session to sit in the classroom hallway during classes and be available for anything that comes up including monitoring children leaving class to go to the restroom, providing snack to classes, stepping into a class if a teacher needs to step out for supplies, getting requested supplies, etc. This is a good role for entering volunteering with the RE program. Generally a small team is created in the fall after RE Registration and a rotating calendar is set up for the remainder of the year with individuals volunteering approximately once every 4 – 6 weeks.

 

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the RE Assistant/Floater role. Adults who checked RE Assistant as their volunteer role on their RE registration form will be added automatically. Re Assistants serve as “floaters” once a month to provide assistance in rooms with high attendance. RE Assistants are encouraged to attend RE Volunteer training to become familiar with procedures and curricula.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the Teacher role. Adults who checked Teacher as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. Teachers work in teams of 3 – 4 and generally lead one class and assist in one class 1 – 2 times per every 4 – 6 weeks. Teachers must complete one training session before joining a team, must have been actively involved in the church for more than six months, and pass a background check. Teams form in the fall . Occasionally a new volunteer is required to fill in if a team member must withdraw. If you join this group, you can expect to be contacted in the fall of each year to discuss your interest and availability. If openings occur mid-year you may contacted then as well.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Exploration program in the RE Event Coordination role. Adults who checked RE Event Coordination as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. Requests for assistance from RE Event Coordination volunteers occur periodically for RE events such as the annual fall RE Families Picnic, the Spring Easter Egg hunt, and other events that come up throughout the year. Example activities include setting up the fellowship hall, putting out food, shopping for supplies, decorating, coordinating other volunteers or youth, setting up a Signup Genius event, or fb event, etc.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Education program in the RE Helper Elves role. Adults who checked RE Helper Elves as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. Requests for assistance from RE Helper Elves occur periodically for an assortment of volunteer work such as RE room clean up and set up, bulletin board help, event assistance, supply organization, etc.

This is a volunteer interest group for adults who wish to volunteer in the Religious Education program on the RE Playground Team. Adults who checked Playground Team as their volunteer role on their RE registration forms will be added automatically. Requests for assistance from the Playground Team occur periodically. Activities include cleanup and maintenance of the RE Playground grounds.

This is a volunteer group for the Children’s Diversity & Justice Library.

A team of volunteers keep the library neat and organized and track new additions as well as books that are checked out.
