The Power of Our Example (and the Example of Our Power)

William Ellery Channing told his congregation, “May your life preach more loudly than your lips.” Religion is caught not taught. We influence others more through our deeds than by our creeds. In the Unitarian Universalist tradition we believe in taking responsibility for setting a good example, however, what do we do when setting a good example isn’t enough? How do we offer leadership in our world when no one is following?
