Personal choices one makes can have unexpected consequences, but the consequences often look very predictable in retrospect. One thing that is often predictable is whether a choice will expand or contract one’s sense of community. This sermon will talk about an unpredictable choice made by German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer that had a couple of Knoxville connections and an impact on his resistance to the Nazis. And the preacher will also admit an example or two from his own life.
