My favorite reading in the back of our hymnal is by Rev. Howard Thurman, called the Work of Christmas. So, after the excitement of the holidays- the meals shared, the decorations, the parties, the love exemplified by giving and receiving of gifts, the candles lighted over the days, and the welcoming of the New Year, we are called to remember there are those who need our love called into Action. Our gifts are those of service to those who are in need, amongst us here in the church and out in our community.
Where are we nourished to gather the resolve to go into the world with energy, with hope? Right here, in our church home. “From you I receive, to you I give, together we share, and from this we live.”
Together we will explore the ways we do the work of Christmas, both within our walls and outside them in our larger community.
