The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. was heavily influenced by Mahatma Gandhi even though he never wore a loincloth. Similarly, we may gain insights from this leader of India’s nonviolent movement for independence without necessarily adopting every single one of his practices. This morning we will reflect on the religion of Gandhi and how it helped Unitarian Universalists find a role in the civil rights movement from the earliest days of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
