The Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will be hosting an online Wake for Elandria: A Time of Remembrance and Celebration on Thursday October 8 at 7:00 EST. We will have brief ingathering words before going to breakout rooms for informal remembering and storytelling. This event is open to family and friends, new and old, far and near.

In the spirit of hospitality, we are offering a Zoom Basics Orientation before the wake, from 6:30-6:50pm EDT. Drop-in during that time for assistance with making sure your video and audio are set up and working, and that your version of Zoom is up-to-date. We want you to be comfortable with the technology so that you can participate in the Wake with minimal frustration. We will have several tech support leads from PeoplesHub on hand to assist you.

In preparation, guests are encouraged to have on hand:
A chalice or candleholder
Tea light candle and lighter/matches
A bottle of water for libations
Bowl for pouring water for libations
A memory to share

Lastly: A reminder to update your Zoom version. Zoom now allows attendees to choose their own breakout rooms! But you won’t be able to do this if your Zoom version is outdated. Please check that you have Zoom version 5.3.1.

(Here is a 1 minute video on how to check for Zoom updates. https://youtu.be/E7zERcVLUBM) If you need help with this, be sure to attend the Zoom Basics Orientation before the Wake.

(Live Captioning will be provided. ASL and Spanish language interpretation are available, please request in the access question below, or email hafidha@peopleshub.org.)

Bring a memory to share.
