Annual Grant – Memorial Garden Upkeep

Earnings from the Endowment Fund help maintain the TVUUC Memorial Garden, ensuring that this special place remains a dignified and welcoming setting for honoring the memories of those who have been part of our congregation. Regular upkeep preserves its beauty and serenity for future generations, allowing the garden to continue serving as a living testament to remembrance, love, and community.

Calendar Year 2026 – Projects in Progress!

  • Ailanthus Trees: Removing a grove of highly invasive ailanthus (tree-of-heaven) trees are the church grounds to protect native plants and improve the health of the landscape.
  • Computer Updates: Purchase new computers for staff and replacing outdated connection equipment in classrooms to improve reliability, efficiency, and productivity in daily operations.
  • Kitchen Stove: Replace the existing stove with a commercial-grade model for the church kitchen, improving functionality, reliability, and capacity for congregational meals, events, and community gatherings.
  • Interior Lighting Upgrades: Upgrade interior lighting throughout the church with more energy-efficient fixtures, reducing energy costs while improving brightness, safety, and overall comfort.
  • Sign Updates: Upgrade exterior signage to improve visibility, wayfinding, and welcome for members, visitors, and the broader community.

Communications Infrastructure
In 2025, Endowment grants enhanced church spaces and operations through new furnishings for the High School Room, technology and security upgrades to the communications infrastructure, and replacement of three patio tables near the Greg McKendry Fellowship Hall. Together, these improvements created more welcoming gathering spaces, strengthened reliability and connectivity, and better supported ministry, fellowship, and daily church activities.

New Computer
New Monitors
Endowment grants supported improvements to church spaces, technology, and ministry programs. The Children’s Diversity & Justice Library received new shelving, and Religious Education classrooms replaced couches, chairs, tables, and other furnishings, replacing worn and mismatched furiture. New patio chairs improved outdoor gathering spaces, while office computers and monitors enhanced staff productivity, communication, and information sharing with the community. Funding also helped modernize the church’s music and choir program with new recording and production equipment, expanding creative possibilities, improving workflow, and enhancing music offerings. Projects Over the Years

2023: The Our Whole Lives (OWL) program resumed and expanded in 2023 through volunteer training, providing comprehensive, age-appropriate sexuality education that promotes healthy relationships, values exploration, and personal growth.

2022: Grants supported projects that strengthened communication, leducation, inclusion, and worship. A new Mission & History Display highlights TVUUC’s programs, people, and heritage; Religious Education improvements upgraded the nursery and expanded opportunities for children and youth; 8th Principle Workshops fostered learning and engagement around equity and inclusion; and the Sanctuary Reorientation enhanced worship while maintaining high-quality livestreaming.

2021: Funding supported technology for streaming Sunday services, including the purchase and installation of cameras and related equipment. This investment expanded access to worship for congregants who were unable to attend in person due to illness, disability, or other circumstances, helping the church stay connected with its community.

2020: Funds supported livestreaming and virtual meeting technology, a new storage shed for secure equipment storage, and health and safety upgrades such as hand sanitizer stations and touchless faucets, helping the church stay connected, organized, and safe during and after the pandemic.

2019: Funding helped create The Welcome Garden, a wildflower garden along Kingston Pike that offers a welcoming space for members and visitors while providing educational opportunities for children. Supported by volunteers, the garden continues to grow and enhance the beauty of the church grounds.

2018: The Fellowship Patio was constructed adjacent to the Greg McKendry Fellowship Hall, creating an inviting outdoor gathering space for fellowship and community events. Built with permeable pavers and furnished through additional fundraising efforts, the patio provides a comfortable and attractive setting for members and visitors to gather and connect.

2017: A Technology Upgrade improved communication and connectivity throughout the church with new wireless infrastructure, video displays, and technology for Religious Education.

2016: The 20th Anniversary Project installed a new digital wireless sound system in the sanctuary, improving audio quality, reliability, and accessibility for worship services, special events, and online participants.
