At TVUUC, music is an integral part of our services.  Our ensembles include the Sanctuary Choir, Chalice Singers, UU-Terns Children’s Choir, and special Holiday Choirs.


There are many ways to be involved in the music program here at TVUUC. Below are some of the programs that are open to participation and volunteer support.

Choirs – Adults and Children
Sanctuary Choir – Wednesdays, 7:00 PM – This SATB ensemble is open to all volunteer singers and participates in Sunday services approximately twice a month. The Sanctuary Choir also participates in Christmas Eve, Easter and other events and services of the church as requested. The Sanctuary Choir prepares larger musical services and works during the calendar year. It is not required that choir members be able to read music. Childcare is availale during rehearsal and Sunday morning warmup. All are invited to join, and drop-ins are welcome at Wednesday rehearsals.

UU-Turns Children’s Choir

Sunday Mornings, 10 am – The UU-Tern’s Children’s Choir meets every Sunday at 10 am in Room G, and all are welcome! No previous musical training required. Just come and join us as we: – Sing a variety of culturally diverse songs – Work on good singing technique – Explore instruments from percussion to strings – Perform in worship services several times a year Instruction –from singing to instrumental accompaniment — follows the National Standards of Music. Led by Ann Barber, certified Music Specialist in Knox County Schools and Certified Suzuki Teacher. Please drop-in on Sundays at 10 am if interested.

Sound System
Every Sunday, also concerts and other special events – Team member arrives half an hour before the service. Set up microphones and computer to amplify and record service, sit in sound booth and make adjustments as needed. Export recorded service to MP3 player on computer. Put microphones away after final service and turn off system. One volunteer needed for each service (or both). Orientation and training to system gladly arranged.

Music Committee
Monthly – Four to five committee members meet in support of the music program, discussing the needs of the church and the Director of Music. This committee is responsible for scheduling public concerts and Open Mic evenings.
