Fasting at the Feast: In-Person and Virtual Intergenerational Service

We associate Thanksgiving with feasting not fasting. Tables covered with our favorite seasonal dishes are the hallmark of the season. However, there can be fasting in the midst of the feasting. Many spiritual traditions teach us that we could all benefit from a ‘complaint fast’ by choosing a period of time to refrain from cataloging our complaints, resentments and grievances. Perhaps, this kind of fasting can lay the groundwork for the perfect thanksgiving.
